ONE. WHAT IS THE WORKS TO YOU?

The Works is home. It is where I meet myself on all my days. It is where I find community in my body and with my people. It is where I practice movement therapy and allow myself to feel to heal and to be my best self. Physically this practice has changed my body in the best way. But the parts that its worked the most are my brain, my heart, and my soul. It has led me to stay in the charge – the one where shift ignites, and complacency dissipates. To get as real, raw, and honest with myself as I ask of my students. To feel something… anything. I no longer look at challenge or transition as an uphill battle – more now as an uphill chance to kick major ass on and off my mat.

TWO. WHAT'S IN MY HEADPHONES?

Jay Z, Kings of Leon, Ani Difranco, Macklemore, any old-school hip hop, and Beyonce (because she’s a damn queen). I like music that makes me feel something.

THREE. HOW DID I FIND MYSELF ON MY MAT?

I never walked away from it. Ever. Even when my practice changed or my life changed or I changed. It is in the fabric of my whole being. It is who I am. Truly. Movement moves me.

FOUR. A QUOTE OR SONG LYRIC THAT SPEAKS TO YOU?

Love is just a tool remind to us who we are and that we are not alone when we’re walking in the dark.
– Macklemore
